Aerospace & Aircraft
Welding in the aerospace and aircraft industry is all about precision and quality. Our knowledge of the welding process and relative metallurgy gives us a unique ability to develop and troubleshoot precision welding processes. We have worked with industry leaders, suppliers and maintenance providers to optimize, specify and implement manual and automatic welding solutions that meet the strict requirements of the aerospace and aircraft industry. In several key maintenance facilities, we worked to justify, qualify and implement new TIG equipment technology for improved welding capabilities. In addition, we identified a complete accessory and consumable offering that solved ongoing work-arounds.
Automation is a way to improve productivity and weld consistency, but requires part accuracy, repeatability and parameter adjustment. A manual welder can adjust technique to compensate for poor part-fitup, mis-alignment or other inconsistency. However, these same part issues can shut down an automated welding system. This light-weight material is used in a variety of industries and applications, commonly joined using both MIG and TIG. While aluminum offers many advantages, it can be challenging to weld. We can help select and develop the best solution for your aluminum application that includes a systematic approch to materal storage, prep and welding. Aluminum is not difficult to weld, but failure to follow critical aspects can lead to equiment downtime and weld discontinuities like porosity. Some say that anodized aluminum cannot be welded. But an entire industry along the coast would argue that viewpoint, because they do it every day. We have worked on anodized applications using machines like the Miller 330 A/BP, Miller Syncrowave, Miller Dynasty and Lincoln Precision TIG models. These companies specialize in a technique called bump-welding as they produce intricate anodized aluminum towers, rod-holders and structures for high-dollar boats and yachts. We learned the technique in order to compare and quality equipment for use on anodized aluminum. We had to apply our knowldge of AC TIG welding, equipment and accessories in order to identify the optimum solution available.
High Purity & Stainless Steel
All kinds of pipe and tube are welded everyday. We've welded all types and sizes for a variety of markets, but we especially enjoy high purity stainless applications. We understand the processes and procedures to sustain the necessary weld quality for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, semi-conductor and related industries. In fact, we can develop procedures and weld schedules that meet the necessary mechancial properties and corrosion resistance according to the specific base metal, industry or application. Jewelry & Precious Metals
Jewelry welding is typically done with processes like oxy-fuel, induction, laser and even TIG welding. In fact, we had the opportunity to support an innovative jeweler as he developed techniques for making custom jewelry and repairs with TIG welding. The results were laser-like precision and speed with a much lower investment and lower operating cost.
Pipe & Tube Mills
Many pipe and tube mills use arc welding in their manufacturing process. We've successfully implemented solutions for various applications ranging from spiral-welded structural pipe to high purity stainless and titanium tubing. This ranges from submerged arc welding on heavy-wall pipe to high-alloy and aluminum TIG mills, where we developed procecures like high-speed DC pulse TIG and advanced AC squarewave TIG to increase productivity and travel speeds. In one application, we developed an advanced procedure that increased travel speed by 25% and eliminated the requirement for helium shielding gas for a huge savings.
Shipbuilding & Repair
The shipbuilding and repair market is interesting because of the amount of welding that goes into each vessel. Our experience with boats, ships and other floating vehicles is extensive - from personal water craft to the largest cruise-ships and military vessels. We have worked with small shops and large shipyards to develop and implement welding solutions that improved their specific application.
