Ferris State Alumni
Brent Williams is a degreed welding engineer from Ferris State University, where he graduated with academic honors and earned the AWS Detroit Section scholarship, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and the program's Outstanding Student Award in 1999.
Applying his skills almost immediately, Williams began welding to support his education in 1993. He operated a fabrication and repair business while working as a contractor at Yoplait USA in Reed City, MI. There, he welded stainless sanitary process pipe and structures in addition to installing and maintaining processing and packaging equipment.
Welding Engineer, TIG Products
Brent joined Miller Electric in 1998 as a welding engineer and worked on the first TIG inverters and new Syncrowave models. He tested and refined the new products as they were introduced and worked with end-users to install and evaluate, justify and implement the equipment.
He had the opportunity to work on the Dynasty 300, Maxstar 300, Maxstar 200 and Syncrowave 250/350 development projects. Daily activities included customer, product and application support and he also managed the welding processes and procedures for Miller Electric.
Brent's ability to relate technical information and provide instruction to others got him involved in training and the development of useful tools and job aids for customers.
Industrial Sales Specialist
After release of both the Maxstar 200 and Syncrowave 250 DX, Brent joined the Industrial Sales division of Miller in the Atlanta, GA area. In that role, he worked with key end-users to identify, implement and support welding solutions throughout the Southeastern United States.
While working in the Southeast, he supported product lauches like the Summit Arc and Axcess lines, working to improve and support a broad variety of applications. He built relationships with end-users as he worked to specify and optimize welding for increased productivity, improved weld quality and efficiency gains. He willingly & enthusiastically went everywhere Miller products were sold.
Marketing & Product Management
Brent took his knowledge and field experience back to corporate headquarters for Miller Electric in 2004, when he moved into marketing and product management. His roles include product manager, business unit manager and marketing manager where he led the direction for a global welding leader.
Highlights and strengths include implementing market segmentation to generate new products and platforms like the Diversion 165, Dynasty models, and wireless remote controls. He was also a Go-To-Market leader working to develop and support brand and market initiatives across businesses.
