Professional Bio: Brent M. Williams, Welding Engineer
Brent is a technical expert in arc welding, specializing in TIG and MIG welding. He has experience welding a variety of metals that include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickels, copper & more. Brent’s knowledge and capabilities allow him to work with a diverse group of industries, where he maintains a strong customer focus.
A degreed welding engineer from Ferris State University, he built a foundation of strengths and capabilities in arc welding processes, equipment, and applications that he has built upon throughout his career. He's come to know many aspects of the welding industry and developed an expertise in technical welding applications, with a reputation for problem solving.
Brent began his welding career in the food & beverage industry and after earning his degree, went to work for Miller Electric, as a Welding Engineer. He had the opportunity to work on applications with equipment like the Dynasty, Maxstar and Axcess systems.
He then became the TIG product manager for Miller. His accomplishments include some well known TIG systems - like various Syncrowave, Dynasty and Maxstar models. He also led the Diversion project, which was the first AC/DC inverter for the personal user market.
Later, as business & marketing manager, Brent led the marketing, sales and customer service for Miller's TIG product division. In these roles he acquired the skills that make him a solid welding resource and knowledgeable expert.
Brent's industry background includes aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, food & beverage, and shipbuilding where he is a subject-matter-expert for arc welding applications. His can apply each process at its optimal level for the application and can identify potential solutions or troubleshoot as needed.
Brent's broad exposure and ability to learn quickly have given him practical hands-on ability and advanced knowledge of MIG, TIG, STICK, SUBARC, PLASMA and Oxy-fuel. His expertise extends further to include the welding of virtually all metals - including steels, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, nickels - even precious metals like gold.
During his career, he took every opportunity to try a new product, process or metal - so his experience is first-hand, from under the hood.
Teaching & Education
Brent enjoys sharing information with others and and helping them learn about various aspects of the welding field. He is a 15+ year member of the American Welding Society and has given numerous technical presentations at section meetings, shows & conferences while also contributing to several AWS committees. Brent also speaks regularly at schools, technical colleges and universities on the subject of welding.
During his career in welding, Brent has taught welding to beginners and novices along with experienced professionals in industrial settings. He can break down each process to the basics that can be easily understood, and he has the ability to discuss highly technical aspects of welding science and theory.
